More About Kayla

She treats her clients as though they are her own family, with a comforting attitude, a sense of understanding, and a strong desire to help. To Kayla, the best part of working in real estate is knowing that she's helping people make possibly the largest financial decision of their lives. Owning real estate is empowering, and being able to play a role in that for someone is truly special. The real estate transaction is an intimate process, and she considers it an honor to play such a prominent role in helping people find their place in the world.

As a Middle Tennessee Native, Kayla grew up in Cookeville, TN, about an hour East of downtown Nashville, and is proud to call the Volunteer state home. She attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, with a minor in Chemistry. Fun fact, Kayla is a two-time cancer survivor and a quarter of a Dentist - here's that backstory. During her second year at TTU, Kayla was diagnosed with a rare adolescent bone cancer called Ewings Sarcoma. She took about 18 months off to receive treatment at Monroe Carrel Jr's Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt before returning to finish out her studies a full semester early. This is when she met her husband, Nathan Brown.

Nathan and Kayla lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, through 2014, where she worked at Natty Greene's Brewery as a marketing director (and unofficial quality assurance specialist, hah!) The next step in her journey was a tougher one. Kayla went on to attend Dental School at the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 2015. Biochemistry, skills labs, drilling, and gross anatomy - she spent a year working towards becoming a DDS before having to return to Nashville for yet another medical leave. The second battle with Ewings Sarcoma helped her realize that she didn't yearn to be a dentist and really didn't want to spend any more time in school and away from her family. Instead of planning her return to UT, Kayla and Nathan bought their first home in West Nashville, and she found an unanticipated passion in real estate. She is quick to tell friends that her ending up on this career path proves that you always land where you’re supposed to - even if the journey may seem a bit, err, bumpy. :)

When she isn’t working, Kayla volunteers for Nashville’s Rally Foundation - raising funds for Childhood Cancer Research. Kayla also loves finding Nashville’s hidden gems, walking the trails or local parks, and spending time at her Hermitage home with her loving husband and Wheaten Terrier named Norm

We Like Her Because: She loves to give back and always looks for a way to make the world a little happier.
